What was Obama's strategy for winning nomination and could GOP nominee have similar strategy?

It does not matter what strategy most of the serious candidates use, Trump, Bachman, Palin and Cain are sucking up all the oxygen(Media Coverage). So, no strategy that worked in 2000, 2004, or 2008 will work this time.
